In 1995 Backlash wrote a song about child abuse called Not My Kind. The motivation for that song stemmed from the stories one of the band members had heard about a friend from high school who had experienced abuse in their own home. They could never understand how a parent could do anything to hurt their own child. Unfortunately, abuse happens more often than most of us would like to acknowledge. A report of child abuse occurs every ten seconds and nearly five children die each day as a result of abuse. Organizations like FIS (Family Intervention Services in NJ) have dedicated professional and support staff to help families and especially children to create sustainable and healthy relationships and establish safety for kids. Founded in 1981, FIS has served over 48,000 families and nearly to 90% of all monetary donations go directly to their mission and programs. To Backlash and 1124 Records, hardcore has always been more than music. It's been about community, giving back, and solving problems that exist in the worlds we live in. 100% of the selling price of this limited edition record will go to FIS to support their efforts.
